Senior Product Engineer, React Native – Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct an audit of the React Native and TypeScript mobile application along with the associated HomeBase administrative processes.

• Evaluate the backend and API architecture, database models, and the business logic concerning bookings, guests, cancellations, refunds, credits, and notifications.

• Detect technical debt, disrupted workflows, security vulnerabilities, outdated code, and absent tests.

• Examine Linear and project documentation, and assess the disparity between planned tasks and their actual execution.

• Develop a prioritized technical recovery strategy.

• Deliver or oversee a small yet impactful stabilization fix during the engagement.

• Suggest the precise team composition required for ongoing efforts: mobile, backend, data, QA, design, or fractional CTO.

⛳️ Requirements

• Senior or staff-level expertise in React Native and TypeScript.

• Robust backend proficiency with APIs and relational databases.

• Experience with payments, refunds, booking systems, marketplaces, memberships, or operational and administrative tools.

• Ability to interpret complex code and make swift, informed decisions.

• Excellent written communication skills: capable of articulating risks clearly to non-technical founders or operators.

• Comfortable working in the absence of perfect specifications.

• Nice to Have: Familiarity with Metabase or experience in analytics cleanup.

• Experience transitioning away from NativeBase, NativeWind, or inconsistent styling frameworks.

• Knowledge of mobile release pipelines, QA automation, push notifications, and email communication workflows.

• Previous experience in startup recovery, code audits, or as a fractional CTO.
