This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Articulate a design vision that harmonizes user requirements with engagement and revenue goals, crafting comprehensive journeys with a systems-oriented approach. Collaborate with Product to influence roadmap priorities and champion user advocacy based on industry trends and competitive analysis.
• Utilize AI-driven tools to expedite ideation and create AI-enhanced experiences — such as personalized suggestions, conversational interfaces, and adaptive content. Assist in advancing the team’s design workflow within an AI-focused development framework.
• Produce production-ready designs efficiently, contributing to NerdWallet’s design system via reusable components. Uphold high standards of quality across iOS, Android, and mobile web platforms, iterating based on qualitative and quantitative indicators.
• Collaborate with PMs, Engineers, and Analysts on usability testing and concept validation, employing analytics, funnel data, and A/B testing results to assess decisions and uncover opportunities. Translate vague challenges into well-defined design problems with measurable success metrics.
• Cultivate strong relationships across Engineering, Product, QA, and Marketing teams. Effectively communicate design rationale through thoughtfully crafted artifacts and presentations, and actively participate in fostering a culture of critique and ongoing improvement within the design organization.
• Over 5 years of professional product design experience, preferably in a consumer-oriented tech setting.
• A portfolio showcasing robust craftsmanship across all aspects of product design — from problem definition and user flows to refined UI and successful outcomes.
• Expertise in Figma, including component-based design and prototyping skills.
• Experience in designing native mobile applications (iOS and/or Android) and mobile web interfaces.
• Proven ability to leverage research and data to inform and justify design choices.
• Background in contributing to or managing a design system.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of clearly conveying design reasoning to non-design stakeholders.
• Familiarity with AI-enhanced features — such as personalization, recommendations, conversational UI, or adaptive interfaces — or a willingness to develop in this area.
• Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and thriving in fast-paced environments where problem definitions are still developing.
