• This role is responsible for defining and designing user-friendly, accessible, and results-oriented product experiences within Follett Software’s portfolio, establishing high standards for design quality, demonstrating effective product design practices, and shaping the team's approach to discovery, framing, and delivery.
• The Senior Product Designer plays an integral role in the product team, collaborating closely with Product Managers and Engineers to comprehend educator workflows, identify the right challenges, and provide solutions that are valuable to customers, practical in real-world applications, feasible to produce, and beneficial for the business.
• As a key player, this designer also contributes to setting design team standards, mentoring fellow designers, and offering strategic insights into complex and ambiguous issues across the portfolio.
• This position entails heightened accountability in product design. The Senior Product Designer is expected to influence discovery processes, workflows, interaction models, usability, and overall experience quality from concept to launch, while also guiding the broader team's approach to design quality, trade-offs, and decision-making.
• Achieving success in this role requires advanced judgment, strong collaboration skills, comfort with uncertainty, and a practical mindset that prioritizes speed, learning, and iteration over perfection.
• Additionally, this position contributes to innovative AI-enabled product initiatives, focusing on trust patterns, fallback behaviors, prompt-aware experiences, and the responsible integration of AI tools to enhance research, synthesis, prototyping, and design iterations while ensuring strong human accountability.
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Product Design, UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Psychology, or a related field, along with 5+ years of pertinent product design experience, including a portfolio that showcases leadership in complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
• Proven capability to contribute to and refine design systems, advocating for new patterns, driving governance, and maintaining cross-product consistency at scale.
• Demonstrated experience in designing digital product experiences within a SaaS, platform, or workflow-intensive software environment, with a strong portfolio highlighting problem framing, workflow design, interaction design, visual design, and successful product outcomes.
• Strong ability to collaborate effectively as part of a product trio (Product Design, Product Management, and Engineering), working closely with Product Managers and Engineers to discover, design, launch, and enhance products, including influencing the trio's operations by advocating for earlier design involvement, stronger discovery practices, and improved decision documentation.
• Proficiency in Figma and modern design and collaboration tools, alongside experience utilizing AI tools responsibly to expedite research synthesis, ideation, prototyping support, and design iteration.
• Experience in conducting or synthesizing usability testing, customer research, behavioral analytics, and other product signals to inform decision-making and enhance user experiences both pre- and post-launch.
• Expert knowledge of information hierarchy, interaction design, and accessibility, including the ability to establish accessibility standards for the team and advocate for inclusive design practices among engineering and product partners, along with exceptional communication skills for articulating rationale, trade-offs, and recommendations across Product, Engineering, GTM, and leadership audiences.
• Experience addressing platform-level or multi-product design challenges where decisions have significant downstream implications, with a proven track record of influencing strategy through design-led discovery.
• Demonstrated ability to lead design critiques, establish feedback norms, and coach other designers, whether informally or formally, fostering a culture of craftsmanship, learning, and high standards.
