This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of a transformative approach to capturing work and growth, in collaboration with your manager and the business.
• Your role will involve both new surfaces within Lattice and the external tools that customers currently utilize.
• Engage with Product, Engineering, Data, and customers to create experiences that are enjoyable, quantifiable, and scalable.
• Collaborate with engineering to refine AI outputs, ensuring they align with the desired user experience.
• 3 to 5+ years of experience in product design, with significant involvement in designing and delivering AI-driven experiences (such as chat, agents, or AI-assisted workflows) or related fields where you've catered to unpredictable outputs.
• A mindset focused on 0→1 development that remains close to the customer: you’ve successfully brought new experiences to fruition by hypothesizing, prototyping, validating, and iterating until a product is launched, and you thrive on collaboration with design partners, first-customers, beta programs, continuous testing, and extensive validation prior to GA.
• An innate curiosity and passion for problem-solving: as AI continues to evolve, you recognize that many current best practices may soon become outdated. You stay inquisitive, experiment with emerging tools and patterns, and approach every new challenge as an opportunity rather than an obstacle.
• A self-starter comfortable navigating ambiguity: you are both independent and collaborative, capable of driving your own discovery and synthesis while consulting with our research team, and willing to tackle fast-paced, dynamic projects.
• The capability to think across different personas (managers, employees, admins, HR leaders) and contribute to creating a cohesive system for AI experiences throughout a broader product suite.
• Experience in designing for non-deterministic systems: you possess a perspective on AI output quality and have developed patterns for trust and graceful failure (including hallucinations, confidence levels, citations, fallbacks, “I don’t know” states, and human-in-the-loop processes), while also ensuring thoughtful output formatting and tone, and managing streaming/latency so that experiences feel swift and clear even during responses.
• A viewpoint on AI voice, tone, and persona: you can help establish the assistant's identity and maintain consistency across different surfaces, ensuring AI presents itself as a coherent character rather than a disjointed collection of tools.
• Experience in designing within intricate, multi-product workflows: you can engineer scalable, robust, and complex workflows, identify where AI should effectively enhance a customer’s role (or should step back), and integrate new functionalities without disrupting the overall experience.
• Strong UX skills: you excel at defining problems before addressing them; identifying the true job to be accomplished, mapping significant edge cases for launch, and creating clear mental models (aligning them with AI when relevant). You can fluidly transition from broad exploration to a polished, shippable design while keeping cognitive load minimal, even when the underlying system is complex.
• Advanced visual and interaction design skills: you have a solid understanding of typography, hierarchy, spacing, grids, and responsive layouts, and you can produce high-quality UI that occasionally diverges from standard patterns to enhance the product. You design intricate interaction patterns and collaborate closely with engineering to ensure high-quality execution.
• Demonstrated success working with an established design system, effectively reusing existing components and patterns, while also having experience creating new components and layouts when AI-native interactions necessitate them.
• A strong understanding of front-end implementation: you work closely with engineering to guarantee the high-quality execution of detailed interaction patterns.
