Senior Product Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the Product team by working closely with PMs, designers, and engineering leads. Identify analytical questions, prioritize them based on product roadmap requirements, and provide insights that influence product development.

• Manage Mixpanel. Oversee our Mixpanel instance, including the instrumentation strategy, event taxonomy and naming conventions, tracking specifications for new features, the Mixpanel Lexicon, debugging, and reporting. Determine what should be tracked on the client-side versus the server-side.

• Extract customer insights. Analyze customer interactions with Help Scout — including activation patterns, feature adoption, retention factors, friction points, and end-user behavior. Convert these insights into actionable narratives for PMs.

• Develop the product analytics layer in Hex. Create and maintain dashboards and notebooks for essential product KPIs — such as activation, engagement, retention, and feature adoption. Ensure these resources are valuable enough for PMs to utilize effectively.

• Design and evaluate experiments. Assist PMs in effectively scoping A/B tests: define success metrics, calculate sample sizes, and establish guardrails. Rigorously analyze results and document insights to avoid redundant testing in the future.

• Connect data and product. Transform ambiguous product questions into precise data queries. Reinterpret data findings into product narratives. Constructively challenge ill-defined requests that may not yield useful insights.

• Work with the Data Platform team. Collaborate with data engineers to ensure product event data, activation signals, and customer states are accurately modeled in dbt and made accessible in the gold layer for analytical purposes.

• Maintain documentation. Keep an updated glossary of metric definitions, event semantics, and common analyses to facilitate a smooth transition for future team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in a product analyst, product data scientist, or product-focused analytics role at a SaaS company.

• Proficient in SQL. You should be adept at crafting complex queries against event tables, dimensional models, and time-series data with ease.

• Practical experience with Mixpanel including instrumentation design, event taxonomy, funnels, retention, and cohort and segment analysis. You should have informed perspectives on effective and ineffective Mixpanel implementations.

• Genuine experience in designing and analyzing experiments. You comprehend significance, power, minimum detectable effect (MDE), and the practical challenges of A/B testing within a product context.

• Strong product instincts. You can distinguish between a visually appealing chart and one that should influence roadmap decisions.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Product teams rely on narratives, not spreadsheets. You can craft compelling stories.

• Ability to self-direct. This role does not come with an extensive backlog. You will work with PMs to establish your own priorities.
