Senior Process Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Create predictive models and anomaly detection systems utilizing industrial sensor and IoT data, focusing on optimizing processes in mineral processing facilities.

• Leverage process engineering expertise in mineral processing plants, particularly in milling, flotation, and leaching, to influence the advancement of AI-enhanced process optimization.

• Comprehend the integration of MetOptima, our comprehensive optimization system, with advanced process control (APC) systems.

• Collaborate directly with clients to pinpoint opportunities for performance enhancement and optimization driven by data.

• Aid in developing hybrid models that merge fundamental and data-informed methodologies.

• Develop Python code and Jupyter notebooks for research, prototyping, and data analysis purposes.

• Examine intricate industrial datasets to extract insights and identify process trends.

• Work alongside a diverse team of data scientists, software engineers, metallurgists, product managers, and designers to produce production-grade ML pipelines, encompassing data exploration, feature engineering, model development, and performance assessment.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Chemical or Process Engineering; a Master’s or Ph.D. is highly advantageous.

• Strong experience and comprehension of minerals processing, especially in milling, flotation, and leaching operations.

• Knowledge of Advanced Process Control (APC) systems; experience with Model Predictive Control is beneficial.

• Over 4 years of experience in statistical analysis, machine learning, or predictive modeling of dynamic systems.

• Practical experience with large-scale datasets and data visualization tools.

• Proficient in Python programming and possess working knowledge of SQL.

• Familiarity with time-series data and data pipelines is an advantage.

• Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
