Senior Principal, Product Engineering

📋 Description

• Convert strategic goals into clearly defined epics, user stories, and technical acceptance criteria that facilitate independent, high-speed engineering execution;

• Transform strategy into comprehensive epics, user stories, and technical acceptance criteria that direct engineering efforts.

• Collaborate with architects to ensure that system designs uphold performance, security, and compliance standards across various environments.

• Oversee backlog prioritization to sustain velocity and uphold technical quality.

• Function as a hands-on, embedded technical product leader, intervening as necessary across discovery, design, delivery, and troubleshooting to remove obstacles, accelerate progress, and ensure cross-disciplinary alignment.

• Actively contribute to execution as needed (e.g., prototypes/spikes, debugging, performance tuning, instrumentation/observability, automation/CI/CD enhancements) to facilitate delivery and enhance outcomes.

• Utilize data instrumentation, analytics, and observability tools to evaluate product health, performance, and ROI.

• Engage in DevOps practices, CI/CD optimization, and automation initiatives to boost release reliability and deployment speed.

• Establish cycle time, flow efficiency, and throughput as key performance indicators (KPIs); responsible for demonstrable improvements across designated product areas.

• Model and embed AI-native product and engineering practices, encompassing AI-assisted discovery, design, coding, testing, and operations.

• Influence prioritization, sequencing, and technical investment decisions to optimize flow, balancing feature delivery, platform health, and technical debt reduction to maintain long-term velocity enhancements.

• Partner with leaders in software engineering, architecture, and infrastructure to shape technical direction and operational models that eliminate friction, reduce cycle time, and enable predictable, high-throughput delivery.

• Lead technical discovery and product design sessions, acting as a subject matter expert (SME), translating complex business and operational requirements into well-defined platform capabilities;

• Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for designated products, thoroughly understanding functionality, architecture, dependencies, and integration points.

• Own results across 2-4 product areas by driving alignment on cross-team dependencies, highlighting trade-offs, and ensuring initiatives yield measurable impact.

• Foster hands-on collaboration between Product, Engineering, and Service Delivery, promoting a culture of transparency, experimentation, and continuous learning.

• Introduce and educate teams on contemporary product management methodologies, focusing on discovery-driven development and customer-centric design.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Product Development, Business, or a related discipline.

• Over 15 years of progressive experience in products, engineering, development, and project management.

• Experience collaborating with C-Suite; prior experience in brand or product development management.

• Previous experience in leading a team and/or cross-functional initiatives (direct or matrix leadership).

• Experience with AI Coding for Production Applications (Vibe Coding) for more than 1 year.

• Must be capable of operating throughout the entire lifecycle: discovery → requirements → delivery → production operations, including hands-on troubleshooting and technical contributions when necessary.

• Proven history of leading complex, highly technical product initiatives involving Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), microservices, data platforms, and cloud infrastructure.

• Exhibits relentless curiosity — actively investigates systems, data, and workflows to gain a deep understanding of product operations, identify friction points, and discover opportunities for improvement.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and complexity, forming well-reasoned perspectives and confidently offering recommendations based on technical insights, data, and business impact.

• Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills, showcasing an ability to "tell a story."

• Knowledge or familiarity with the BPO or insurance industry is preferred.

• Strong entrepreneurial spirit; energetic, urgent, responsive, confident, thorough, and decisive.
