Senior Principal Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take charge of a technology initiative and oversee technical design activities.

• Implement initiatives with support from individual contributors.

• Assist architects in determining strategy and clarifying ‘what’, ‘why’, and ‘how’.

• Aid in decision-making regarding the tools and technologies necessary to solve specific problems or use cases.

• Manage initiatives from inception through to delivery and ongoing maintenance in cloud environments such as AWS.

• Experience in transforming monolithic architectures.

• Strong comprehension of scaling, distributed architectures, caching, queuing, and replication.

• Establish best practices and perform code reviews.

• Support the organization in achieving its goals of becoming a center of excellence in technology.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of relevant experience.

• Proficient in backend development with mastery in Java.

• Open to exploring other backend technologies.

• Enthusiastic about technology, including Java, MySQL, Postgres, and cloud technologies (AWS/Google/Oracle).

• Understands the business implications of one’s work and the impact on the larger team.

• Hands-on experience actively driving technology initiatives with individual contributors.

• Involvement in development, delivery, and maintenance in cloud environments such as AWS/Google/Oracle.

• Adherence to engineering best practices.

• Appreciates simplicity at scale.

• Capable of motivating and guiding other engineers.

• Automated repetitive tasks effectively.
