This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop and uphold the enterprise data architecture strategy for data acquisition, archive recovery, and database implementation.
• Create scalable and secure data models, data flows, and integration patterns within the AWS and Databricks Lakehouse ecosystem.
• Align the data architecture with both business goals and IT strategies.
• Establish frameworks for data governance and best practices.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, regulatory compliance, metadata management, and thorough documentation.
• Convey architecture strategies, decisions, and best practices to stakeholders effectively.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data teams.
• Oversee and assess contractors and third-party resources.
• Evaluate and suggest data technologies, tools, and platforms.
• Utilize generative AI tools for code generation, data modeling, and documentation purposes.
• Direct data architecture initiatives in large-scale projects and digital transformation efforts.
• Personally design and construct data models and pipelines to establish technical standards.
• Ensure timely delivery of data solutions within scope and to quality standards.
• Over 10 years of experience in data engineering or data architecture.
• A Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Experience in data profiling, sourcing, cleansing, standardization, transformation, rationalization, linking, and matching.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing data models and warehouses using dimensional/star schema, Data Vault, or Kimball methodologies.
• Comprehensive understanding of database structures with experience in various databases and data warehouse technologies.
• Familiarity with data mining and segmentation techniques.
• Proficient in SQL and Python programming languages.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks Workflows, AWS Glue, and/or Apache Airflow.
• Proven experience in building data models and dashboards utilizing Databricks SQL and/or Power BI.
• Extensive practical experience with the Databricks Lakehouse Platform, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Databricks SQL.
• In-depth knowledge of AWS services such as S3, EMR, EKS, Glue, Redshift, and Lambda.
• Capability to collaborate with remote teams across multiple time zones and within an Agile framework.
• Ability to mentor data engineers at varying levels of experience.
• Proactive utilization of generative AI tools for data modeling, coding, and documentation.
• Proficient in communicating project updates, challenges, and deliverables to management and stakeholders.
