This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Take ownership of and enhance critical backend systems β such as data synchronization pipelines, search APIs, email/SMS delivery, and workflow automation β prioritizing reliability and operational excellence.
β’ Lead platform-level initiatives that introduce new product functionalities: activity feeds, custom objects, rate limiting, tenant isolation, and data enrichment integrations.
β’ Work closely with product engineers to pinpoint and resolve platform bottlenecks, enhancing the speed and dependability of feature development throughout the team.
β’ Engage in the shared platform on-call rotation and oversee post-incident evaluations, progressively improving system observability and resilience.
β’ Contribute to the foundational backend architecture for Rally's agentic platform β ensuring that our core systems can accommodate AI agents executing research workflows at scale.
β’ Shape architectural decisions and set engineering standards across the backend ecosystem.
β’ Guide engineers through code reviews, technical design conversations, and daily collaboration as the team expands.
β’ Over 6 years of experience in building and managing complex backend systems in production, preferably within a startup or high-responsibility environment.
β’ Strong foundational knowledge in TypeScript/Node.js with practical experience in a fully TypeScript codebase.
β’ Extensive experience with AWS managed services (ECS/Fargate, RDS/Aurora, MSK) and contemporary cloud-native architecture patterns.
β’ Familiarity with event-driven systems and streaming infrastructure (Kafka or similar).
β’ Demonstrated history of taking ownership of significant technical domains from design through implementation, launch, and ongoing operation.
β’ Solid understanding of observability (metrics, logs, traces) and comfort with on-call duties and production incident management.
β’ Exceptional communication skills and a collaborative mindset β eager to work alongside product, design, and go-to-market teams, as well as fellow engineers.
