Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Participate in and enhance the entire lifecycle of services—from conception and design, through deployment, operation, and refinement utilizing agile methodologies.

• Assist in the preparation of services before they go live by engaging in activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and conducting launch reviews.

• Adopt the DevSecOps culture with a strong focus on automating processes wherever possible.

• Oversee services once they are operational by assessing and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.

• Sustainably scale systems through automation mechanisms; evolve systems by advocating for changes that enhance reliability and speed.

• Implement sustainable incident response practices and actively engage in retrospectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Eligibility to obtain a clearance is necessary.

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.

• Between 7 to 10 years of experience as a Platform Engineer.

• At least 5 years of programming experience in Python.

• Proficient in debugging, optimizing code, and automating routine tasks.

• A systematic approach to problem-solving, along with effective communication skills and a strong sense of drive.

• Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems.

• Proven experience in developing continuous, automated build and deploy pipelines.

• Demonstrated experience in conditional processes within build and deploy pipelines based on security scans of both source code and artifacts.

• Ability to collaborate with both software development and platform infrastructure teams to provide valuable guidance for code development and deployment.

• Extensive knowledge of version control for release artifacts to support upgrade rollouts and rollbacks.

• Strong understanding of containerization for web applications.

• Familiarity with container orchestration engines such as K8s (EKS, AKS, GKE, Kops, OpenShift).

• Experience with GitLab CI/CD.

• Proficient in bash shell scripting.
