Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belgium.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the overall architecture of platform infrastructure utilizing GitOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and Kubernetes.

• Develop and manage shared data platform services, encompassing Go operators, Kafka, Neo4j, and associated infrastructure.

• Deliver scalable, reliable, and self-service data capabilities for product and analytics teams.

• Engage in on-call rotations and resolve intricate service issues.

• Implement security best practices while maintaining architecture and procedural documentation.

• Collaborate with product engineering, security, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to promote the adoption of platform best practices.

• Ensure architectures across AWS and GCP are secure, compliant, and resilient.

• Keep abreast of platform engineering trends and identify as well as implement enhancements in infrastructure automation.

• Independently carry out assigned tasks and deliver improvements to infrastructure.

• Refactor existing automation processes to simplify complexity.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Platform Engineering, SRE, or software engineering roles, along with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience demonstrating the necessary skills.

• Proven experience in designing, building, and managing production services using Kubernetes and GitOps/IaC across multiple Kubernetes clusters.

• Experience in managing production workloads and infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Practical experience in operating Kubernetes clusters and managing containerized services in a production environment.

• Skilled in writing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code, preferably with Terraform.

• Proficiency in Golang for controller and automation development.

• A bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience is mandatory.

• Established proficiency in utilizing AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, or Copilot to address business challenges, achieve measurable results, or enhance workflows.

• Preferred qualifications include CKA/CKAD certifications, familiarity with Istio, ArgoCD, networks, Linux, Kubernetes, monitoring/logging tools, observability spans/traces, Datadog, Grafana, Honeycomb, and Golang controllers.
