This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Collaborate directly with lines of business (LOBs) to identify and evaluate risks, review and challenge risk assessments, contribute to controls and testing, offer guidance on remediation activities, and generate reports, ensuring alignment with the Operational Risk program and framework.
• Oversee the primary execution of Operational Risk management and assist in steering the implementation of operational policies and/or procedures to mitigate risks within acceptable limits.
• Aid in the continuous development and execution of the Major Line of Business (LOB) Operational Risk team’s strategic plan to achieve its Annual Operational Risk objectives, which include, among other tasks: formulating and enforcing Operational Risk policies and procedures; assessing, monitoring, and testing; establishing accountability and escalation processes for the line of business; and reporting mechanisms.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of operational risk management topics, serving as the subject matter expert on operational risk activities related to risks, controls, testing, remediation, and reporting.
• Actively engage in comprehensive risk management oversight of the assigned LOB, providing guidance and training to line of business personnel, Risk Management staff, and others on Operational Risk best practices and pertinent industry standards.
• Track and evaluate new or amended legal and regulatory requirements relevant to the Consumer Bank.
• Review and challenge LOB policies and procedures to ensure consistency with current applicable rules, regulations, and laws, ensuring they effectively mitigate associated risks.
• Collaborate with the LOB to promote the ongoing enhancement of risk assessments, testing, monitoring, and related plans.
• Offer authoritative and consultative advice and support to management, maintaining independence while delivering pro-business solutions.
• Analyze and provide insights on risks associated with the introduction of new and/or enhanced products, services, processes, business initiatives, and outsourced third-party activities.
• Proactively anticipate and respond to changes in regulations, rules, and/or laws; evaluate the impact of any changes on business areas and assist them in their responses.
• Ensure that line of business policies and procedures align with current applicable banking and securities rules, regulations, and laws.
• Respond to internal and external audits, examinations, and requests for information, reviewing and challenging any line of business responses to audits. Assist in evaluating audit findings and implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Support responses to ongoing regulatory and legal inquiries and investigations.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal clients, staff, peers, other risk partners, and LOB senior management.
• Foster relationships with industry peers and regulatory bodies.
• Promptly escalate any significant breaches of applicable laws, rules, policies, or standards with actual or potential operational risk implications to the appropriate senior management or risk committee, along with necessary corrective actions.
• Serve as the Operational Risk Subject Matter Expert on assigned Subcommittees and/or Working Groups.
• Provide leadership and/or assistance on special projects as assigned.
• Actively collaborate with assigned business unit management to identify and assess operational risks related to business activities, ensuring alignment with the Corporate Operational Risk Framework, which includes advising LOBs on operational risks and controls, as well as key risk indicators.
• Guide LOBs on operational risks associated with new products and/or services and business initiatives, as well as risks related to outsourced third-party activities.
• Deliver periodic reporting to executives and LOB partners.
• Conduct review and challenge activities, including independent testing as required.
• Manage second line of defense (LOD) requirements related to the Governance, Risk & Compliance application and Risk Assessment Processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• A Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or economics, or equivalent experience is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of industry experience, preferably within Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk, or line of business risk functions.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and productively across the organization.

• Capability to manage competing priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment while ensuring sound business practices are applied to mitigate risks within acceptable limits.
• Proven experience working with internal and external auditors and regulators.

• Ability to promote and encourage collaboration among various risk disciplines.
• Capacity to view risks holistically in a dynamic, fast-paced team setting.
• Comprehensive practical knowledge of internal controls, risk assessments, and operational and compliance processes, along with applicable techniques for implementing regulatory, compliance, legal requirements, and operational processes.
• Strong leadership and relationship management skills, including the ability to lead across the organization.
