Senior Network Virtualization Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Create and design VMware NSX-T Data Center solutions for both new deployments and existing migrations (from NSX-V to NSX-T).

• Build overlay transport zones, logical switches, Tier-0/Tier-1 gateways, and implement routing protocols (BGP/OSPF) within the NSX framework.

• Develop policies for Distributed Firewall (DFW) and Gateway Firewall to uphold Zero-Trust security principles.

• Integrate NSX with vSphere, vRealize Automation, Kubernetes (using the NSX Container Plugin/NCP), and public cloud services (AWS/Azure) for hybrid networking solutions.

• Deploy and oversee the complete NSX management cluster (comprising Managers, Controllers, and Edge Nodes).

• Execute lifecycle management tasks including upgrades, patching, and capacity planning for NSX components.

• Diagnose intricate networking challenges related to VXLAN/Geneve encapsulation, routing, and high availability (active/standby or active/active Edge clusters).

• Create Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform, Ansible, or PowerCLI to streamline NSX configurations.

• Work alongside DevOps teams to facilitate CI/CD pipelines requiring on-demand network segmentation and load balancing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, specifically focusing on VMware NSX.

• In-depth expertise in NSX-T architecture (version 3.x).

• Familiarity with NSX-V is advantageous.

• Thorough understanding of routing (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS), switching (VLAN, VXLAN, Geneve), firewalls, and load balancing mechanisms.

• Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere (including ESXi and vCenter) and storage infrastructures.

• Competence in Linux system administration for troubleshooting NSX appliances.

• Proficiency in Python, PowerCLI, REST APIs, and Ansible/Terraform.

• VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) in Network Virtualization or VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) in Network Virtualization.

• Completion of VMware NSX-T Data Center: Install, Configure, Manage [V3.x].

• CCNP/CCIE (Enterprise or Data Center) or an equivalent certification.
