Senior ML Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with colleagues from the Data & AI department, closely partnering with product managers, engineers, and commercial stakeholders.

• Design, develop, and manage machine learning systems tailored for retail media applications, including sponsored product ranking, audience segmentation, campaign optimization, attribution, and performance measurement.

• Convert business and product requirements into scalable machine learning solutions, ensuring a balance between model quality, latency, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.

• Create robust machine learning pipelines for feature engineering, training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing model enhancement.

• Deploy models into production using our cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring their reliability, observability, and long-term maintainability.

• Clearly convey technical decisions, assumptions, limitations, and uncertainties to product, engineering, and business stakeholders.

• Contribute to the establishment of machine learning engineering standards, best practices, and knowledge sharing within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• You possess several years of hands-on experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, an ML-focused Software Engineer, or a Data Scientist with a strong engineering background.

• You have successfully built and maintained production-grade machine learning systems, pipelines, or model-driven products.

• You bring experience in retail media or, alternatively, in recommender systems or ranking methodologies.

• You are adept at working with complex data and are familiar with common machine learning failure modes, such as data leakage, feedback loops, distribution shifts, and misleading offline metrics.

• You enjoy close collaboration with business units and can articulate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

• You take initiative, work proactively, and are comfortable navigating ambiguity in an early-stage product environment.

• You value teamwork, are open to giving and receiving feedback, and take pleasure in supporting the growth of others.
