This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Develop, train, assess, and implement computer vision and multimodal models, advancing them from initial prototypes to full production.
• Create systems that deduce structured attributes and spatial context from images by integrating learned models with geometric and heuristic reasoning.
• Train and refine models using extensive and varied real-world image datasets, while establishing the necessary pipelines for data curation and labeling at scale.
• Collaborate with vision-language models (VLMs) and construct robust evaluation frameworks to gauge their accuracy on our specific tasks.
• Create and evaluate high-performance image retrieval functionalities utilizing embedding models and vector indexing methodologies.
• Enhance models for inference speed and throughput by employing techniques such as distillation, quantization, and GPU acceleration.
• Review current research, prototype innovative algorithms derived from academic literature, and convert promising concepts into dependable production code.
• Execute efficient, scalable data pipelines and inference infrastructure.
• Build high-performance tools in machine learning and data engineering.
• Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as reasonably requested by the employee’s supervisor or CEO.
• Proven experience in building, training, evaluating, and deploying ML models in a production environment.
• Strong proficiency in using PyTorch, JAX, or other deep learning frameworks to develop and enhance models.
• Solid software engineering skills to construct and maintain complex systems while working with large-scale datasets.
• Capable of addressing open-ended challenges and rapidly acquiring knowledge in new domains.
• Comfortable with substantial ownership and autonomy, making practical trade-offs between model complexity, speed, inference, and business constraints.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Nice to have: Experience in inferring structured, real-world attributes from images.
• Experience in training models on large-scale, real-world image datasets.
• Familiarity with vision-language models (VLMs).
• Ability to comprehend academic literature, prototype innovative algorithms, and bridge the gap between research and production code.
• Experience in building LLM or VLM pipelines and the evaluation frameworks to assess their performance.
• Experience in an ML role at a growth-stage startup.
• Publications in prominent ML or computer vision conferences (e.g., CVPR, ICML, ICCV, WACV).
