This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Edit all types of deliverables for medical affairs, commercial, patient and payor communications, and publications teams, ensuring flow, structure, and adherence to style guidelines.

• Proofread Creative poster layouts against templates and congress guidelines, making necessary annotations for amendments and integrating text changes into the design.

• Conduct pre- and post-Creative reviews for all assets at specified stages throughout the project lifecycle.

• Suggest modifications to content layout and design elements to ensure alignment with client briefs and stylistic consistency.

• Work closely with the Medical & Scientific Services team to confirm the accuracy and completeness of content by fact-checking data points and thoroughly reviewing reference lists.

• Develop and uphold style guidelines for assigned clients that meet their standards and expectations, aligning with corporate and brand style guidelines, agency style guidelines, the American Medical Association (AMA) Manual of Style, and all Citrus editorial, publication, and ethical procedures.

• Act as a subject-matter expert on client and agency style, AMA style, structure, grammar, usage, as well as congress and journal standards.

• Identify project areas needing additional expertise from team members and solicit input as necessary.

• Support colleagues with editorial problem-solving, troubleshooting, and brainstorming sessions.

• Participate in product status meetings to stay informed about upcoming or ongoing editorial projects and to monitor congress status.

• Utilize project management techniques to plan and schedule work in collaboration with Account, Project Management, and Creative teams; gather comprehensive project briefs, asking questions for clarity on requirements, deadlines, and budget constraints; ensure the scope of delivery, timelines, and resources are maintained; communicate progress, risks, and dependencies.

• Actively collaborate with Creative, Account, and Project Management partners throughout the project lifecycle to manage schedules, convey revised requirements, and ensure the quality and timeliness of deliverables.

• Handle intake and delivery for all Editorial project requests; communicate project briefs and timeline expectations; coordinate with Creative partners to prioritize and plan for delivery.

• Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to junior editors and all Citrus colleagues regarding the editorial process.

• Review the work of editors and offer positive, supportive, and constructive feedback.

• Identify training needs and collaborate with colleagues to develop and deliver effective training sessions.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 5-7+ years of progressive professional experience in medical or scientific editing.

• Active credentials such as Editor in the Life Sciences (ELS) and Certified Medical Publication Professional (ISMPP CMPP™) are advantageous.

• Proficient in MS Office Suite (particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), Adobe Creative Suite (especially Acrobat), EndNote, GraphPad Prism, and medical literature databases (e.g., PubMed).

• Familiarity with Veeva annotations, Google Analytics, SEO strategies, copyright requirements, and the process of requesting and purchasing figure/table use permissions is a plus.

• Experience with mock journal and congress submissions as well as compiling lists of requirements for submissions.

• Proven track record in submitting abstracts to congresses and manuscripts to journals.

• Ability to prioritize projects, collaborate on team initiatives, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to support various therapeutic teams and achieve project objectives.

• Capability to gather relevant information from diverse sources (e.g., published style manuals, journal guidelines, and literature searches) while maintaining accurate source records.

• Strong understanding of grammar, usage, and medical writing style guidelines (such as the AMA Manual of Style).

• Familiarity with general scientific and medical concepts and the ability to comprehend more intricate scientific and medical applications.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

• Skill in identifying key issues and creatively and strategically addressing challenges.

• Analytical thinking skills with the ability to effectively plan, prioritize, and execute assigned tasks.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
