Senior Manufacturing Engineering Consultant – Automotive Assembly Planning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Act as the leading expert in automotive assembly sequence planning, tooling, and the configuration of production lines.

• Establish and evaluate product workflows and requirements related to sequence planning, torque specifications, tooling choices, ergonomic considerations, as well as MTM or time study applications.

• Offer practical insights on new or revised production lines, encompassing station layout, work content, standardized work, and work instructions.

• Specify and assess the representation and utilization of assembly tools, fixtures, ergonomic aids, and error-proofing devices within the software.

• Compose detailed product specifications and user documentation, including workflows, illustrative examples, and best-practice guidelines.

• Ensure that the product's behavior and algorithms align with actual plant workflows, providing feedback gathered from pilot usage and customer interactions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering roles within automotive OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers.

• Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing new or significantly altered production lines, particularly in final assembly.

• Practical experience with:

• Assembly sequence planning and operational breakdown.

• Selection of tools and equipment for assembly tasks, including torque tools, fixtures, and ergonomic supports.

• Torque specifications and fastening process design, which includes DC tools, tightening strategies, and traceability methods.

• Ergonomic risk assessments utilizing methods such as REBA, RULA, NIOSHMTM, MOST, or equivalent time study techniques.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with the skill to articulate complex manufacturing and tooling concepts to non-experts such as software engineers.
