• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of technical writers.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, offer constructive feedback, and assist in career progression.
• Establish the documentation vision, encompassing tool selection, style guidelines, and information architecture.
• Serve as the primary link between Engineering, Product Management, and Support to ensure documentation is seamlessly integrated into the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Prioritize projects and oversee the team’s capacity to meet stringent release deadlines without compromising quality.
• Formulate and execute a documentation strategy within a cross-functional organization that fosters usability and innovation in documentation.
• Review documentation for consistency across processes by applying established standards and style guidelines.
• Maintain and enhance our Docs-as-Code workflow (Git, Markdown, CI/CD pipelines).
• Convert complex, technical content into clear and concise documentation targeted at audiences such as Engineers, Product Managers, Architects, and Senior Leadership.
• Produce technical documentation for APIs, SDKs, and integrations.
• Simplify complex concepts into understandable logical constructs using architectural diagrams and accompanying descriptions.
• Write in a formal technical writing style (e.g., active voice, implied you, consistent tenses, etc.).
• Conduct thorough interviews with subject matter experts to gain a comprehensive understanding of the architecture or products.
• Collaborate daily with engineers, product managers, and architects to develop, publish, and maintain high-quality, customer-centric documentation.
• Utilize metrics and other data forms to assess the effectiveness of content, identify areas needing review, and inform planning and prioritization.
• Create content that enhances searchability for SEO and LLM optimization.
• Manage and continuously update the content management system(s) for documentation.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military experience.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in writing technical documentation for software solutions.
• At least 4 years of experience in people management.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working with Markdown and Git.
• Over 5 years of experience with documentation authoring tools, such as Hugo, GitBook, and Confluence.
• Proven experience in writing technical documentation for data security software.
• Proficient in transforming highly technical content into clear and practical customer-focused materials.
• Ability to collaborate with developers to convert their content into easily understandable documentation.
• Familiarity with writing in an Agile software development framework.
• Strong understanding of data management technologies and processes.
• Over 3 years of experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• More than 3 years of experience in software development.
• At least 1 year of experience in the financial services sector.
• Over 3 years of experience working in an Agile environment.
