This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee compliance activities related to federal and state income, franchise, and similar tax obligations, ensuring adherence to regulatory reporting standards at both levels.
• Evaluate tax compliance workpapers prepared internally for both federal and state levels, as well as for international entities and individuals, to ensure technical precision.
• Review quarterly tax estimate and extension calculations and manage payment coordination.
• Collaborate with an external service provider to supervise the preparation of tax returns (federal, state, and international) for various organizational entities.
• Engage in cross-departmental collaboration with finance, legal, treasury, and other teams to collect tax compliance data, ensuring that tax processes align with the organization's broader goals and regulatory frameworks.
• Oversee and assess internally prepared tax returns for individuals and small businesses.
• Manage and review additional compliance documents, such as FBARs and 5500 forms, prepared internally.
• Identify, investigate, and develop processes for new tax compliance reporting requirements arising from business or family transactions or changes.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness in reviewing intercompany 1099 tax filings.
• Prepare and review tax provisions and the corresponding tax footnotes in financial statements.
• Conduct research on compliance tax matters and assist the Sr. Director of Tax Planning & Strategy with inquiries on various tax topics.
• Handle audits related to federal, state, and local income/franchise taxes, including addressing inquiries and notices.
• Spearhead efforts in optimizing tax compliance processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing best practices to enhance accuracy, mitigate risks, and achieve operational excellence.
• Supervise, mentor, and cultivate the development of team members by setting goals, delegating tasks, and providing timely feedback.
• Ensure adherence to policies and procedures among team members while supporting the overall compliance objectives of the organization.
• A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is mandatory.
• CPA certification is required.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive tax experience in either a public accounting firm or a corporate tax department.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in federal and state taxation regarding flow-through entities and individuals.
• At least 3 years of experience in people management is preferred.
• Exceptional technical and analytical abilities.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills to handle multiple assignments efficiently.
• Excellent process management and documentation capabilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate, build relationships, and partner effectively both within the organization and with external stakeholders.
