This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Recruit, onboard, hire, and cultivate a team of Solutions Architects to support Scale and Enterprise accounts.
• Set clear performance expectations, establish coaching routines, and create career development pathways for direct reports.
• Promote a culture of curiosity, technical excellence, and customer focus within the team.
• Ensure consistent execution through defined processes for technical discovery, proof-of-value engagements, and support for deals.
• Collaborate closely with Sales leadership and Account Executives to develop and implement comprehensive account strategies.
• Guarantee that the team performs thorough, high-quality technical discovery to pinpoint the right use cases and advocate for the appropriate solutions.
• Allocate team resources towards the highest-impact opportunities while balancing pipeline coverage with deal quality.
• Introduce rigor and repeatability to the pre-sales process—from qualification through to a technical win—while adapting to each customer's unique context.
• Act as an escalation point and strategic advisor for complex, high-value engagements.
• Assist the team in clearly and credibly positioning Temporal against competing technologies and architectural patterns.
• Ensure Solutions Architects are able to educate customers on both the technical advantages and limitations of Temporal’s platform and cloud service.
• Maintain a practical understanding of Temporal’s product, keeping close to the product roadmap and engineering developments.
• Serve as the voice of the customer back to the Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams.
• Collaborate closely with Customer Success, Professional Services, and Developer Relations to facilitate seamless transitions post-sale and promote ongoing expansion.
• Partner with Marketing on field content, competitive positioning, and event strategies.
• Work with Product to highlight customer needs, feature requests, and market trends.
• 5+ years of experience in Solutions Architecture, Sales Engineering, or a similar customer-facing technical role, including at least 2 years in a management or leadership position within a technical pre-sales team.
• Demonstrated success in open-source, developer-tools, or infrastructure-software companies, with an understanding of the unique dynamics of selling to and collaborating with developer communities.
• Strong technical foundation with hands-on experience in distributed systems, microservices, or event-driven architectures.
• Proficiency in one or more of Temporal’s supported programming languages: Java, Golang, TypeScript, Python, C#, or PHP.
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) and familiarity with contemporary development and deployment tools (CI/CD, containers, orchestration).
