This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the main operational liaison for our TPA (Sedgwick), overseeing claim handling expectations, reserving practices, and escalation procedures.
• Evaluate and analyze loss runs, trends in claim frequency/severity, and the status of open claims; provide insights to the Sr. Director and initiate corrective actions with the team.
• Regularly assess large loss and litigated claims to ensure the TPA’s handling strategy is in alignment with program goals.
• Monitor SLA compliance and claims quality metrics, ensuring the TPA meets performance expectations.
• Detect patterns in claims data (by state, classification, production type, time of year) and convert findings into actionable recommendations aimed at risk reduction.
• Create and execute risk mitigation strategies, including safety programs, return-to-work policies, and best practices in claims management tailored to the workflows of the entertainment industry.
• Integrate claims and underwriting data to pinpoint areas for operational enhancements (improved classification, quicker reporting, focused safety guidance) that can decrease loss frequency and severity.
• Manage the comprehensive underwriting operations workflow—encompassing production company onboarding, classification, state jurisdiction setup, and policy endorsement execution.
• Monitor and report on Worker Compensation KPIs and SLAs throughout the WC program.
• Oversee, mentor, and cultivate the development of Workers Compensation Operations and Claims Specialists.
• Establish clear objectives, conduct regular one-on-ones, and promote accountability across all program areas—claims, risk mitigation, underwriting operations, and COI workflows.
• Distribute team workload evenly between claims and underwriting functions, adjusting resource allocation as production seasons and claim volumes fluctuate.
• Collaborate with the Sr. Director on capacity planning, recruitment, and team development as the program expands.
• Utilize AI tools (including Claude, Dust, and emerging platforms) as a fundamental aspect of daily operations—enhancing research, drafting, workflow automation, and overall team capability in AI.
• Develop and sustain a centralized Workers' Compensation knowledge base; work with AI Champions to create and implement self-service agents that minimize friction for internal teams and speed up decision-making.
• Act as Wrapbook's internal expert on WC program structures—constantly observing the landscape, identifying gaps in differentiation, and providing strategic insights to senior leadership.
• 5–8+ years of experience in workers’ compensation operations, insurance program management, or a related risk management role—exposure to both claims and underwriting/policy administration is essential.
• At least 4 years of experience in people management, preferably in a dynamic or high-volume setting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of WC claim lifecycles, reserving practices, and TPA performance oversight.
• Strong understanding of WC policy frameworks, classification systems, payroll-based premium calculations, and audit methodologies.
• A risk management mindset—naturally linking underwriting decisions to claims outcomes while seeking methods to minimize loss frequency and severity across the program.
• Proven experience in utilizing claims and policy data to identify trends, create reports, and suggest operational improvements.
• Established ability to manage vendor and broker relationships focused on accountability and measurable results.
