This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead comprehensive revenue accounting functions, which encompass daily invoice/order approval, credit approval, drafting of revenue accounting memos, and providing audit support.
• Ensure adherence to ASC 606 and U.S. GAAP across all revenue streams, including subscription models, consumption-based billing, and various other business frameworks.
• Policy Ownership: Oversee, update, and enforce the global revenue recognition policies of the company.
• Audit Management: Serve as the main liaison for external auditors concerning revenue, deferred revenue, and standalone selling price (SSP) analyses.
• Close Management: Supervise the monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close processes, guaranteeing timely and precise ledger entries, reconciliations, and disclosures.
• Reporting: Generate revenue variance analyses, executive dashboards, and financial statement disclosures for leadership and board meetings.
• Forecasting Collaboration: Collaborate with FP&A to deliver accurate data inputs for revenue and deferred revenue forecasts.
• Process Improvement: Design and maintain scalable revenue processes and controls to support rapid growth and improve operational efficiency.
• System Ownership: Lead and facilitate the implementation and enhancement of revenue automation tools (e.g., Orb, NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management, etc.).
• Internal Controls: Establish, implement, and sustain robust SOX compliance controls over the order-to-cash and revenue recognition cycles.
• Deal Desk Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Legal, and Sales Operations during contract negotiations to evaluate accounting treatment and revenue implications prior to finalizing deals.
• Commission Plan Review & Alignment: Collaborate with Sales Operations and HR to assess upcoming Sales Commission Plans, ensuring they are structured for operational viability and evaluating their accounting implications under ASC 340-40 (deferred contract costs).
• Monthly Commission Calculation: Manage the complete monthly commission cycle, including calculating payouts based on sales performance metrics, maintaining commission schedules, and verifying data accuracy across CRM and payroll systems.
• Amortization Management: Oversee the capitalization and amortization schedules of sales commissions, ensuring expense recognition aligns with the duration of the associated customer contracts.
• Mentor and manage revenue accounting personnel, ensuring alignment with business objectives and individual development aspirations.
• Experience in automating Billing to Cash and Revenue Recognition, utilizing both existing tools and innovative solutions that harness AI.
• 8+ years of pertinent accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
• Required public accounting experience; Big 4 experience is highly preferred.
• CPA designation is strongly preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue recognition standards for SaaS and consumption-based business models.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Experience with ERP, billing, and revenue operations platforms is strongly preferred, including but not limited to: Netsuite, Salesforce, SPIFF, Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouses, Tableau, etc.
• Candidates with practical experience leading or assisting with system integration projects (e.g., ERP-to-billing data flows, commission platform configurations, or CRM-to-revenue system connections) will be given strong preference.
• Proven ability to excel in a high-growth, fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, combined with a proactive and strategic mindset. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and practical experience with SQL are highly valued and will greatly enhance success in this role.
