This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Assist in the development and execution of Financial Crime and AML methodologies to manage regulatory risks and ensure compliance with FINTRAC regulations under the PCMLTFA.
• Keep track of modifications to FINTRAC regulations and AML/CTF laws, adapting policies and procedures accordingly.
• Act as a primary liaison with FINTRAC and other regulatory authorities regarding AML/CTF issues.
• Detect control deficiencies and spearhead enhancements in AML, OFAC, and Regulatory Compliance.
• Aid in country-specific risk assessments and remediation strategies.
• Provide support for compliance oversight and testing activities, ensuring internal reporting on AML/CTF controls, fraud, and compliance issues.
• Serve as a compliance subject matter expert for the business and management in Canada.
• Evaluate and authorize high-risk institutional client business in Canada.
• Assist with external audits and coordinate responses to requests from banking partners.
• Direct AML/CTF risk assessments across product, service, customer, and geographic dimensions.
• Ensure prompt and precise filing of FINTRAC reports, including STRs and EFT Reports.
• Enhance compliance operational processes and systems through automation and technology.
• Support the Compliance Training Framework.
• Engage in compliance and business-driven projects, regulatory developments, and strategic initiatives.
• Contribute to the RPAA compliance program, encompassing reporting, safeguarding controls, and regulatory change management.
• Assist in the PSP compliance program, including infrastructure, reporting, and evolving obligations.
• Operationalize compliance requirements, policies, controls, and reporting frameworks related to Stablecoin.
• Supervise substantial regulatory and independent program audits through preparation, response coordination, remediation, and closure validation.
• At least 10 years of experience in senior compliance roles within regulated companies in Canada.
• Comprehensive knowledge of KYB/KYC, AML/CFT, Sanctions, PSP, and RPAA compliance topics.
• Experience in a Canadian compliance role with familiarity with PCMLTFA, FINTRAC, RPAA, and AML/CTF requirements.
• Profound understanding of the Canadian Payments/Fintech regulatory landscape.
• Experience with correspondent banking, banking as a service, or Financial Institution clients from the Americas.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Capacity to identify risks, control gaps, and inefficiencies while defining scalable, sustainable processes and methodologies.
• Ability to lead comprehensive process and control enhancements across functions and regions.
• Quick prioritization skills and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
• Capability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Proven experience in developing and managing an RPAA compliance program.
• Proven experience in developing and managing a PSP compliance program.
• Significant experience in engaging with regulators and managing regulatory examinations and independent program audits.
• Experience in operationalizing Stablecoin compliance, including controls, regulatory reporting structures, and alignment with applicable requirements.
• ACAMS or CRCM certification preferred, or relevant professional compliance certification.
• Fluency in spoken and written French is highly desirable.
• Experience in building and leading compliance teams or mentoring junior compliance professionals is highly desirable.
