This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as a specialist and subject matter expert for HTS and Schedule B classifications concerning defense industry parts and products.
• Ensure accurate tariff classifications and identify opportunities for minimizing duties and tariff exposure.
• Support export and import initiatives and projects while ensuring adherence to regulatory compliance and internal processes.
• Investigate product details, material composition, GRI rules, and assign or verify HTS and Schedule B classifications.
• Document, justify, and explain the rationales and decisions behind classifications.
• Interpret and apply rules of origin and other governmental trade compliance requirements for declarations to Customs, Census, DoS, BIS, DoD, EPA, FDA, and FTAs.
• Coordinate with requestors, engineers, internal stakeholders, and customers to gather information and ensure compliance with processes.
• Offer guidance on HTS/Schedule B classification, country of origin, and export/import requests.
• Maintain precise records in accordance with internal standards and government trade compliance regulations.
• Analyze system and dashboard data, generate performance metrics, and provide reports and updates to management and stakeholders.
• Assist with trade compliance assessments and audits, and complete assigned corrective actions.
• Support Post Entry Reviews, Post Summary Corrections, International Activity Reviews, FTZ activities, exports/imports, business continuity plans, training programs, and special projects.
• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience for Principal level, or a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience, or 9 years of experience in trade compliance, customs brokerage, and/or international logistics in the Aerospace and Defense sector.
• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience for Sr Principal level, or a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience, or 12 years of experience in trade compliance, customs brokerage, and/or international logistics in the Aerospace and Defense sector.
• Holder of a US Customhouse Broker License.
• Familiarity with WCO General Rules of Interpretation, Explanatory Notes, and Title 19 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
• Ability to obtain and retain a secret clearance.
• US Citizenship required.
• Subject matter expertise and a proven track record in HTS/Schedule B classification.
• Experience in compliant importing and exporting of defense articles and international logistics.
• Analytical skills to discern the essential character of complex parts and products.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Capability to apply advanced technical skills, business acumen, and project management skills.
• Preferred: Over 10 years of expert-level experience in HTS/Schedule B classification within aerospace and defense.
• Preferred: Experience with country of origin regulations, U.S. Customs valuation, ITAR, EAR, export/import compliance reporting, FTZ activities, audits, contract reviews, SAP S4 ERP, automated EMS/TMS tools, and OGAs including EPA, FDA, ATF.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Logistics, or Business Administration.
