📋 Description

• Engage in state regulatory proceedings to deliver comments and other advocacy documents that support the company's positions.

• Represent the company’s interests before staff and various stakeholders at state commission meetings, ISO/RTO stakeholder committee gatherings, and at FERC.

• Monitor initiatives (such as rulemakings and proposed tariff modifications) in 2-3 wholesale electric markets, take part in stakeholder meetings within those markets, and identify and advocate for positions that align with the company’s business objectives.

• Collaborate closely with the Voltus Energy Markets team on all advocacy and regulatory policy efforts in wholesale markets and at the state commission level.

• Determine a strategic approach when required, either independently or in collaboration with trade associations, to impact initiatives and collectively advocate for reform.

• Serve as a public advocate and spokesperson for the company's interests by participating in stakeholder meetings, drafting comments, and engaging with key individuals (e.g., Commissioners, RTO personnel).

• Gain a deep understanding of our business by collaborating across departments (Energy Markets, Operations, Engineering, Sales, Finance) and leverage that knowledge in advocacy efforts.

• Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders, including regulatory commissioners, federal agencies and officials, state energy officials and legislators, ISO/RTOs, environmental groups, and consumer and trade associations.

• After an onboarding period of 3-6 months, take charge of responsibilities with minimal oversight from the Chief Regulatory Officer.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4-5 years of experience in energy policy or regulation, showcasing clear, successful outcomes from direct advocacy efforts.

• A JD (preferred) or another relevant graduate degree is required.

• Strong verbal communication and relationship-building skills, with the capability to collaborate with industry and stakeholder partners to enhance or defend the overall market for distributed energy resources.

• Outstanding project management skills. Must be highly efficient while demonstrating sound judgment in managing limited resources.

• Ability to effectively synthesize knowledge across various disciplines (engineering, energy markets, finance) and distill it into clear, understandable verbal and written communications.

• Comfort with measurable performance metrics and a results-driven accountability approach.

• **PLEASE INCLUDE A WRITING SAMPLE WITH YOUR APPLICATION.** Ideally, this should be comments or pleadings you have submitted to a state commission, FERC, or at an ISO/RTO. If that is not feasible, please provide another writing sample.
