This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead and develop high-performing platform engineering teams that provide reliable, scalable infrastructure and operational excellence for Vanta’s products and clientele.
• Establish technical direction and drive multi-quarter initiatives focused on infrastructure reliability, security, scalability, and developer experience across shared systems and services.
• Collaborate closely with product engineering, security, and engineering leadership to discern organizational needs, translating vague infrastructure challenges into defined roadmap priorities, and delivering scalable platform solutions.
• Design and enhance internal platforms, paved roads, and abstractions that empower product teams to deliver independently, securely, and efficiently without requiring extensive infrastructure expertise.
• Guide the advancement of Vanta’s cloud and data infrastructure, encompassing AWS services (ECS, Fargate), optimizing MongoDB performance, and implementing event-driven architecture.
• Foster a robust engineering culture, operational standards, and ownership practices that enable teams across Vanta to build and manage healthy systems responsibly.
• Over 5 years of experience managing platform or infrastructure teams in fast-growing tech companies.
• Previous experience overseeing multiple teams or various charters.
• Strong decision-making skills, effectively balancing ambiguity, available data, speed, and quality.
• Proven track record of maintaining and scaling shared infrastructure in measurable, concrete terms.
• Experience in developing or driving engineering-wide initiatives (such as recruiting processes, career frameworks, etc.) in a previous role.
• Prior involvement in managing complex, long-term projects that engage multiple teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Effective communicator and storyteller, capable of influencing cross-functional stakeholders and adjacent teams, and comfortable guiding technical direction across teams without relying on direct authority.
• Willingness to leverage AI to enhance skills and improve work, demonstrating curiosity, a desire to learn, and sound judgment in applying AI responsibly to boost efficiency and impact.
