This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assemble and manage a team of Analytics Engineers and Data Engineers, establishing technical standards across both fields.
• Quickly expand the team to 6–8 engineers within a year while creating well-defined career progression paths.
• Foster engineering excellence through practices such as code review, automated testing, and continuous delivery.
• Take ownership of the architecture and strategy for data ingestion, warehouse modeling, and the analytics engineering layer, which includes dbt, semantic layer, and marts.
• Develop and enforce frameworks for data governance and security, encompassing RBAC, PII/PHI management, masking, and tokenization.
• Perform code and architecture reviews, eliminate technical obstacles, and resolve critical platform challenges.
• Ensure that internal stakeholder groups have the necessary tools and access models.
• Act as the product manager for data-related production systems and core infrastructure.
• Convert internal partner needs into a cohesive, actionable roadmap.
• Establish frameworks for decentralized internal applications and rapidly prototyped tools utilizing Cherry’s data surfaces.
• Minimum of 7 years in data engineering and/or analytics engineering.
• Direct experience in people management.
• Proven ability to attract, hire, and quickly scale engineering talent while upholding a high technical standard.
• Demonstrated experience managing the end-to-end architecture of data platforms from ingestion to consumption.
• Background as a product owner or liaison for technical platform tools.
• Proven ability to balance business feature requests with technical debt and reliability.
• Experience in regulated industries such as FinTech, Healthcare, or Insurtech is highly preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of cloud data warehouses like Snowflake.
• Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow.
• Experience with ingestion tools such as Fivetran.
• Expertise in dbt and analytics engineering practices, including data modeling, semantic layer design, testing, and documentation.
• Practical experience in designing RBAC frameworks, PII/PHI tokenization, masking, and automated access control systems.
• Experience mentoring across various technical roles and building senior/lead layers.
• Ability to convey technical trade-offs and governance requirements to both technical and non-technical executive stakeholders.
• Strong prioritization skills when governance, reliability, and business feature requests vie for roadmap capacity.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; the application will inquire if visa sponsorship is required.
