Senior Manager, Corporate Counsel – AI Compliance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with teams in Data Privacy, Cybersecurity, IT, IP, HR, Commercial, and Regulatory functions to ensure that product development and business operations are in line with company policies and global AI standards.

• Offer practical, business-focused legal guidance on the utilization, development, and implementation of AI technologies, which includes risk assessment, documentation, and adherence to emerging AI regulations.

• Create, evaluate, and negotiate contracts related to AI-enabled products, services, customer interactions, pilots, and supplier partnerships, addressing terms concerning data usage, confidentiality, service commitments, warranties, indemnities, liability, and regulatory obligations.

• Collaborate with product, engineering, commercial, privacy, cybersecurity, IP, and regulatory teams to convert AI functionalities, service descriptions, and customer commitments into clear and scalable contractual terms.

• Maintain and utilize AI-related templates, clause libraries, playbooks, guidelines, and training resources to implement AI legal standards across various business teams.

• Assist multiple Thermo Fisher divisions (AIG, SDG, CCG, LSG, LPG, BPG) in identifying, evaluating, and managing AI-related risks associated with customer and supplier engagements.

• Counsel and partner with the Global Privacy and Technology Office to improve AI governance frameworks, enhance legal service delivery, and disseminate best practices.

• Organize and maintain legally required documentation to ensure preparedness for audits or regulatory evaluations.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience in legal, compliance, privacy, technology, product, or commercial contracting roles, preferably with substantial exposure to AI, digital innovation, software, data governance, or technology-driven products and services.

• Proven experience in drafting and negotiating commercial, technology, services, software, data, licensing, product, or customer-facing agreements, including intricate contract language for emerging products and services.

• Solid understanding of global data protection and emerging AI regulatory frameworks (e.g., EU AI Act, OECD principles, NIST AI RMF).

• Strong judgment, business acumen, and the capability to provide clear, solution-oriented legal advice in complex or unprecedented situations.

• A collaborative approach with experience working across various time zones and within a matrixed global organization.

• Proficient in English; knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.

• Experience in the life sciences, healthcare, or technology sectors is preferred.
