Senior Manager, Advocacy Communications

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Enhances and supports the Internet Society's ability to convey its advocacy positions to a wide range of global and regional advocacy audiences.

• Requires proven experience in advocacy communications within civil society, the Internet ecosystem, or related public-interest policy contexts.

• Aims to ensure that the organization is prepared for effective communication.

• Clearly expresses advocacy positions in a manner that resonates on both global and regional scales.

• Executes successful international, regional, and cross-border advocacy communications campaigns.

• Rapidly and coherently addresses global, regional, or national developments impacting the Internet and its governance.

• Knowledgeable about relevant policy issues — capable of understanding, translating, and communicating policy positions.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7–10 years of experience in advocacy communications, strategic communications, or campaign communications, with experience spanning multiple countries or regions.

• Proven ability to communicate effectively with advocacy audiences, including policymakers, regulators, civil society, think tanks, media, and/or academia in various national or regional settings.

• Background in civil society, Internet governance, digital rights, technology policy, or a related public-interest area.

• Strong understanding of policy: Able to comprehend policy positions and debates and translate them into effective communications across diverse legal and governance frameworks.

• Demonstrated experience in supporting or leading media engagement, including the creation of press materials, messaging, and preparation of spokespersons, ideally with international or regional media outlets.

• Exceptional writing, editing, and narrative-building abilities for varied global audiences.

• Experience collaborating with international, regional, or multilateral institutions, coalitions, or networks is highly preferred.
