This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.
• Develop advanced machine learning models for innovative FlightAware Foresight products.
• Enhance current machine learning models.
• Create cutting-edge machine learning systems utilizing historical aviation data and vast datasets.
• Construct models for runway landing times, gate arrival times, taxi durations, and various aviation forecasts.
• Generate predictive aviation data that supports the FlightAware Foresight product suite.
• Share ideas with the team and contribute beyond mere execution.
• Address open-ended machine learning and performance challenges involving large datasets.
• Enhance operational efficiency for airlines and airports globally.
• Work collaboratively in an agile development environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Must possess authorization to work in the U.S. without company immigration sponsorship, both currently and in the future.
• Proficient in Python programming.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow/Keras or PyTorch.
• Familiarity with complex data types, including time series, images, and videos.
• Ability to thrive in an agile development environment.
• Preferred experience with Kubernetes, AWS, and GPU acceleration.
• Preferred experience with graph neural networks.
• Preferred experience with weather or other geospatial datasets.
• Preferred experience with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Thanos.
• Preferred familiarity with Dagster, Airflow, or other modern ETL orchestration tools.
• Preferred familiarity with Iceberg, Spark, Elasticsearch, and other large-scale data processing systems.
• Preferred experience in hybrid infrastructure environments, including cloud and on-premises Kubernetes.
