Senior Machine Learning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Experimentation and Optimization: You will assist in parallelizing and distributing tasks across various experimental tracks, enhance model performance through hyperparameter tuning, model ensembling, or advanced training strategies, and design as well as execute systematic experiments to validate hypotheses and improve models.

• Research and Development: Your duties will involve conducting literature reviews on cutting-edge techniques in medical imaging, designing and prototyping innovative machine learning models, implementing model architecture and training strategies in code, and generating ideas while exploring methods to improve existing models or tasks.

• Analysis and Validation: You will carry out statistical analyses to evaluate model robustness and reproducibility, and compare proposed methods against benchmarks and baselines from existing literature.

• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: You will work alongside domain experts to define problem statements and interpret model outputs, ensuring that our AI solutions are technically sound and have a significant clinical impact.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of practical experience in machine learning, encompassing model design, training, and evaluation.

• Extensive experience in applying machine learning to real-world computer vision or NLP challenges, including developing, deploying, and optimizing models.

• Proficiency in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, along with the ability to write clean, modular experimental code.

• Practical experience in conducting experiments, tuning models, and systematically validating and comparing approaches.

• Strong understanding of contemporary ML concepts: regularization, loss functions, optimization strategies, generalization, overfitting, etc.

• Basic data analysis skills utilizing tools like Polars or Pandas for efficient data manipulation and exploratory analysis.

• Knowledge of statistical testing and experimental design to evaluate performance, robustness, and reproducibility.

• A keen interest in new techniques — you enjoy keeping up with ML literature and applying concepts in production-oriented ways.

• Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to break down complex problems into their fundamental components and characteristics.

• Ability to strategically prioritize tasks, create clear work breakdown structures, and manage competing demands in a dynamic environment.

• A proven record of generating innovative ideas, rigorously exploring them, and translating them into functional systems.

• Experience in building ML pipelines (training, evaluation, deployment) in production, particularly in cloud environments like AWS.
