This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +2 more states.
• Conduct investigations, evaluations, and resolutions for intricate litigated property and liability claims from the point of lawsuit assignment until final resolution.
• Examine new third-party liability claims, engage with insured parties and claimants, assess liability, evaluate claims, and establish action plans.
• Directly negotiate settlements with claimants, their legal representatives, and plaintiff attorneys.
• Formulate litigation strategies in collaboration with defense counsel and ensure consistent follow-up on cases.
• Participate in trials, mediations, arbitrations, and depositions either via phone or in person as required.
• Review policy details and analyze relevant coverage issues.
• Assess liability exposures utilizing knowledge of tort law, contracts, and various coverage forms.
• Recommend and modify reserves as lawsuits evolve.
• Maintain claim diaries, present files to internal claims committees, and inform management of significant losses.
• Leverage AI-driven tools and contemporary claims software to enhance litigation workflows and accuracy in claims.
• Ensure adherence to company guidelines, pertinent statutes, and Unfair Claims Practice Acts.
• Identify indicators of fraud and opportunities for recovery.
• Engage with and oversee external vendors, defense counsel, and experts.
• Mentor junior examiners and assist in identifying their training requirements.
• Provide support for litigation and liability claims during periods of high CAT claim volumes.
• Bachelor's degree and over 7 years of experience in property, liability, and litigation claims handling, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• Direct involvement with first- and third-party litigation in Florida, Texas, and Louisiana.
• Applicable state adjuster license as necessary, with the capacity to acquire additional state licenses as required.
• Extensive experience in interpreting property damage estimates and policy coverages.
• Proficient understanding and extensive experience in evaluating liability exposures.
• Technical knowledge in claims management, coverage, forms, contracts, and tort law.
• Demonstrated negotiation abilities with claimants and plaintiff attorneys.
• Familiarity with law and insurance regulations across jurisdictions, with a capacity to remain updated on legal trends.
• Advanced experience in adopting and utilizing new software and tools.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Insurance certifications, courses, or professional designations are advantageous.
• Willingness to work extended hours due to weather-related incidents or litigation deadlines.
• Capability to sit for prolonged periods and utilize computers and standard office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through email.
• Skill to perform repetitive tasks and maintain focus on detailed activities.
• Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, and reach within an office setting.
• Capacity to lift or move up to 10–15 pounds occasionally.
