This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Prepare, evaluate, and negotiate a diverse array of commercial agreements, such as B2B customer contracts, SaaS agreements, API licensing, payment network agreements (e.g., Visa), and strategic partnerships.
• Assist with corporate compliance obligations for Mexican entities, which includes maintaining corporate documentation and coordinating with external legal counsel as necessary.
• Navigate intricate, multi-jurisdictional regulatory frameworks associated with payments, digital assets, and data privacy.
• Aid in the acquisition and upkeep of financial licenses across major global markets.
• Deliver practical, business-focused legal counsel on everyday operational, product, and strategic matters.
• Collaborate closely with product, finance, compliance, and risk teams to evaluate legal risks and implement solutions that align with business objectives.
• LLB, JD, or an equivalent degree, with the necessary qualifications to practice law in Mexico.
• Over 5 years of post-qualification experience in corporate/commercial law.
• In-house experience within a start-up atmosphere and/or in the fintech or web3 sector is advantageous.
• Proficient in both Spanish and English (spoken and written, including negotiation and contract drafting); fluency in Portuguese is a significant advantage.
• Knowledge of Mexican regulatory frameworks relevant to payments, financial products, and virtual asset activities.
• Excellent project management and organizational abilities with a keen eye for detail and thoughtfulness.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities and ensure legal projects remain on schedule, while coordinating with stakeholders and seeing each project through to completion.
• Willingness to take ownership of responsibilities, work independently, and navigate through ambiguity.
