Senior Legal Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Incorporate compliance throughout the product lifecycle: Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to evaluate platform features, draft tailored terms, and ensure legal frameworks align with current business objectives.

• Oversee infrastructure and vendor risks: Analyze and negotiate intricate upstream infrastructure contracts (IaaS), reseller agreements, and agreements for AWS/Azure/GCP Marketplace to maintain platform integrity.

• Regulate AI and emerging technologies: Develop comprehensive legal frameworks for features utilizing AI/ML models, with a specific focus on training data provenance, liability for outputs, and proactive adherence to the EU AI Act.

• Embed data privacy and security: Work in partnership with our DPO, Security, and Compliance teams to trace data flows and integrate global privacy frameworks seamlessly into the cloud architecture.

• Enhance go-to-market strategies and commercial expansion: Revise customer-facing terms (ToS, SLAs, AUP) and serve as a reliable advisor to global sales teams during negotiations for intricate, customized enterprise contracts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Legal qualification: A Juris Doctor (JD, LLB, or equivalent) with valid authorization to practice law in your jurisdiction.

• Experience in the tech sector: 5 to 10+ years of post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house legal department, particularly supporting SaaS, cloud infrastructure, or developer-oriented platforms.

• Technical understanding: While coding skills are not required, you possess a solid grasp of how modern cloud applications operate. You are at ease with learning or discussing concepts such as APIs, containerization, pull requests, and multi-tenant databases.

• Language proficiency: Exceptional proficiency in both spoken and written English and French.

• Practical execution: Proven ability to draft clear, balanced legal terms, coupled with a professional demeanor that prioritizes clarity over convoluted legal jargon.
