
Senior Legacy Conversion Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Evaluate and analyze legacy applications, primarily those developed in CA Gen.
• Implement application migration projects utilizing automation tools.
• Apply technical remedies and enhancements throughout the migration journey.
• Establish migration strategies for database access, online transactions, batch processing, user interfaces, and application components.
• Assist in phased migration methodologies.
• Execute migrations to native COBOL environments such as CICS, IMS-DC, and DB2, as well as contemporary technology stacks including Java, .NET, Spring Boot, Angular, and cloud platforms.
• Verify converted applications for functional equivalence, maintainability, and performance.
• Document migration standards, reusable patterns, and technical processes.
• Collaborate with technical leadership to define migration strategies and delivery roadmaps.
• Support technical proposals and Statements of Work.
• Communicate migration strategies and project outcomes to customers and technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of migration tools and modernization practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Extensive commercial experience with CA Gen (Cool:Gen).
• Background in application migration, legacy modernization, or application re-platforming.
• Proficiency in analyzing Gen Models, Action Diagrams, Business Components, Data Models, and Data Structures.
• Experience with online transaction processing and batch processing.
• Familiarity with relational database access and performance optimization.
• Skills in UI design and implementation.
• Experience in mainframe environments, including familiarity with 3270 block-mode applications.
• Knowledge of one or more of COBOL (CICS, IMS-DC, DB2), Java, .NET, Spring Boot, Angular, or cloud platforms.
• Experience with automation tools for application migration or conversion.
• Familiarity with XML or model extraction as part of migration initiatives.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging capabilities.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Collaborative mindset focused on delivery and continuous improvement.
• Proficient in English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience with MigrationWorks or similar application migration tools is a plus but not required.
• Background in supporting structured Gen conversion or regeneration programs is a plus but not required.
• Experience in delivering migrations across multiple target platforms is a plus but not required.
• Familiarity with mainframe tools such as ISPF, JCL, SPUFI, and SCLM is a plus but not required.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps is a plus but not required.
• Experience in contributing to migration frameworks, automation tools, or application modernization initiatives is a plus but not required.
• Background in modernizing enterprise applications to cloud or hybrid environments is a plus but not required.
