This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Act as the technical leader for the Brain Team, offering expertise in Kubernetes architecture, networking, cloud infrastructure, and platform engineering.
• Provide mentorship to fellow engineers.
• Design, implement, maintain, and enhance production Kubernetes clusters on Amazon EKS.
• Oversee node lifecycle, autoscaling, and capacity planning utilizing Karpenter.
• Spearhead Kubernetes networking efforts with Cilium and Istio, covering service mesh, ingress, network policies, and traffic management.
• Create and manage AWS cloud infrastructure through Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Propel platform automation using GitOps, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
• Work collaboratively with development, security, and platform teams to provide secure and scalable solutions.
• Resolve intricate platform, networking, and application challenges across distributed systems.
• Establish secure-by-default platform standards and operational controls to support FISMA High compliance goals.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, to enhance engineering productivity and platform automation.
• Assume additional responsibilities as necessary to achieve team goals and project success.
• Over 8 years of experience in infrastructure or platform engineering, including more than 5 years managing production Kubernetes environments.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Amazon EKS, Kubernetes architecture, and Linux administration.
• Profound knowledge of Kubernetes networking with practical experience using Cilium and Istio.
• Strong proficiency in Terraform, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Experience in implementing GitOps workflows utilizing GitHub and GitHub Actions.
• Proven track record of leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineering teams.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, alongside meticulous attention to detail and technical documentation capabilities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience in Agile software development teams and cross-functional technical settings.
• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
• Must successfully pass a background check.
• Capability to obtain and maintain a Government/Public Trust clearance, including necessary fingerprinting, if required.
• Kubernetes certifications such as CKA, CKS, or CKAD, as well as AWS or Terraform certifications.
• Familiarity with Argo CD, Argo Rollouts, Kyverno, Kubernetes policy management, Helm, Kustomize, or Gateway API.
• Experience in establishing secure CI/CD and Continuous ATO (cATO) pipelines, container security, and vulnerability scanning using Aqua or similar tools, along with AWS security and compliance frameworks.
• Background in platform engineering, internal developer portals, and observability platforms like Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
• Experience supporting FISMA or other regulated environments and dealing with cloud-native security and compliance requirements.
• Must reside within the continental United States.
