📋 Description

• Report on police, court, and crime-related stories both inside and outside the courtroom, focusing on causes, solutions, and real-time news updates.

• Generate and refine concepts for investigative stories and projects.

• Build relationships with sources and develop expertise to uncover stories and influence the news cycle.

• Manage additional assignments and stories as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Prior experience in covering court and legal matters is preferred.

• A digital-first journalist, skilled at producing clear and concise copy under tight deadlines.

• A proficient writer capable of crafting breaking news, engaging features, and short-form content, along with innovative story formats such as explainers, Q&As, and long-form journalism.

• Ability to recognize trends and factors driving the news, enabling you to articulate the reasons behind events as well as what is occurring.

• A flair for explanatory journalism.
