This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Monitor official sources, such as Hebrew-language media, wire services, and various news outlets, for real-time developments.
• Compose and disseminate clear, accurate breaking news updates for the JNS live ticker.
• Maintain a consistent flow of news updates throughout each shift.
• Significantly boost output during major breaking news occurrences.
• Utilize editorial judgment to decide what qualifies as breaking news and prioritize the stories accordingly.
• Verify information prior to publication and comply with JNS sourcing and attribution standards.
• Collaborate with the Shift Editor and Breaking News Desk Lead throughout each shift.
• Ensure smooth transitions during breaks and shift changes.
• Monitor social media and other emerging sources while adhering to verification protocols.
• Contribute to enhancements in workflow, monitoring practices, and overall newsroom efficiency.
• Prior experience in a newsroom or journalism, ideally focused on breaking news.
• Outstanding news judgment with a quick ability to identify relevant stories.
• Excellent skills in English writing and editing.
• Capability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Knowledge of Israeli current affairs and the regional news landscape.
• Proficiency in reading Hebrew is highly preferred.
• Comfort in collaborating within a remote newsroom environment using Slack and other digital tools.
• Ability to monitor official sources, including Hebrew-language media, wire services, and other news outlets.
• Capability to verify information and adhere to sourcing and attribution standards.
