This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.
• Design, create, test, and troubleshoot backend services and APIs utilizing Java and Spring Boot.
• Take ownership of features throughout the entire software lifecycle: analysis, design, implementation, integration testing, and quality assurance.
• Convert client specifications into functional software—implementing enhancements, addressing defects, and clarifying requirements when inconsistencies arise.
• Generate designs that are easy to modify, allowing for quick and safe adaptation to new requirements.
• Develop and uphold automated tests (unit and integration) as a standard part of the delivery process, rather than as an afterthought.
• Create clear technical documentation, design notes, and user manuals on Confluence.
• Review the code of peers, mentor junior engineers, and elevate the quality standards of the team.
• Engage in daily, weekly, and monthly team meetings and planning sessions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in Java development.
• Extensive experience with Java (version 17 or later) and the Spring Boot ecosystem.
• Strong foundation in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), clean code practices, and RESTful API design and versioning.
• Proficient in SQL and relational database management, particularly with PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization.
• Practical experience in developing and maintaining services within microservices or distributed architectures.
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks (such as JUnit, Mockito, or similar).
• Proficient with Git, code review processes, and Agile methodologies.
• Awareness of secure coding practices and an understanding of common security vulnerabilities in applications.
• Results-oriented, capable of managing multiple concurrent tasks, and comfortable navigating uncertainty.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• NICE TO HAVE
• Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift).
• Familiarity with identity and access management protocols (such as OAuth2 / OpenID Connect, Keycloak).
• Experience with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
