Senior Interoperability Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Lead the design and upkeep of enterprise interoperability architectures, encompassing HL7 (v2/v3), FHIR APIs, CDA documents, IHE profiles, eHealth Exchange, and VHIE frameworks.

• Perform thorough technical evaluations, gap analyses, risk assessments, and solution designs for integration needs; propose strategies that align with PWS objectives, regulatory requirements, and value streams.

• Supervise the development, configuration, testing, and deployment of interoperable solutions, resolving complex issues within production environments.

• Work collaboratively with PMO, clinical, security, and development teams, utilizing SAFe/Agile methodologies for PI planning, dependency management, and KPI/OKR tracking.

• Offer mentorship, technical support, and assistance with change management, training, and executive reporting/dashboards regarding interoperability performance.

• Ensure adherence to FedRAMP, ATO, cybersecurity, and health data standards while optimizing for scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred for BPA1).

• 8–12+ years of progressive experience in health IT interoperability architecture, with a strong preference for experience in VA/VHA or federal healthcare settings (higher end for BPA1).

• Extensive expertise in EHR systems, API management, cloud technologies, data mapping, and interoperability standards/tools.

• Relevant certifications such as PMP, SAFe (Architect/Agilist), HL7/FHIR, or equivalent certifications are highly desirable.

• Demonstrated skills in stakeholder engagement, documentation, and delivering high-quality solutions that meet federal contract requirements.
