This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create, update, and maintain foundational policy forms, endorsements, exclusions, definitions, and customized wording for commercial lines products.
• Convert underwriting and product intentions into clear, unambiguous policy language that remains valid during claims processing.
• Develop and sustain a library of standardized clauses and reusable endorsement language to ensure uniformity across both commercial and personal lines products.
• Assess coverage intentions, identify unintended grants, gaps, and overlaps, and propose wording modifications to address them.
• Benchmark our forms against ISO standard forms and competitor manuscript wordings to facilitate differentiation and coverage positioning.
• Collaborate with product and underwriting teams to introduce new coverages and product enhancements from a wording perspective.
• Prepare and oversee form submissions to state departments of insurance through SERFF, monitoring for approvals and objections.
• Ensure forms adhere to admitted and non-admitted (E&S) regulations and company policies, conducting independent research of state statutes as necessary.
• Coordinate with legal resources and carrier personnel to secure essential approvals for changes in coverage and forms.
• Collaborate with underwriting, claims, legal, and technology teams to ensure wording aligns with operational realities and system configurations.
• Provide guidance to claims regarding coverage interpretation and incorporate insights from claims disputes into language enhancements.
• Maintain version control, edition dating, and documentation for all forms and endorsements throughout the portfolio.
• Keep abreast of regulatory changes, case law, and emerging exposures, proactively updating wordings to manage coverage and litigation risks.
• A bachelor's degree in Insurance, Business, English, Legal Studies, or a related field, or a Juris Doctor (JD). Relevant experience and proven skills may substitute for formal education.
• Over 3 years of experience in drafting or managing commercial lines policy forms, endorsements, or coverage wordings, or equivalent insurance coverage/legal experience.
• Strong understanding of both commercial and personal lines coverages, ISO forms, manuscript wordings, and policy development. Experience with E&S / non-admitted is advantageous.
• Knowledge of state filing procedures and SERFF; comprehension of admitted and non-admitted regulatory requirements.
• Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to identify ambiguity, unintended coverage, and gaps in policy language.
• Insurance designations such as CPCU, or a legal background in insurance coverage, are beneficial.
• Outstanding communication and stakeholder management abilities across underwriting, legal, and claims departments.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of juggling multiple forms, editions, and filings simultaneously.
