• Create, update, and maintain foundational policy forms, endorsements, exclusions, definitions, and customized wording for commercial lines products.

• Convert underwriting and product intentions into clear, unambiguous policy language that remains valid during claims processing.

• Develop and sustain a library of standardized clauses and reusable endorsement language to ensure uniformity across both commercial and personal lines products.

• Assess coverage intentions, identify unintended grants, gaps, and overlaps, and propose wording modifications to address them.

• Benchmark our forms against ISO standard forms and competitor manuscript wordings to facilitate differentiation and coverage positioning.

• Collaborate with product and underwriting teams to introduce new coverages and product enhancements from a wording perspective.

• Prepare and oversee form submissions to state departments of insurance through SERFF, monitoring for approvals and objections.

• Coordinate with legal resources and carrier personnel to secure essential approvals for changes in coverage and forms.

• Collaborate with underwriting, claims, legal, and technology teams to ensure wording aligns with operational realities and system configurations.

• Provide guidance to claims regarding coverage interpretation and incorporate insights from claims disputes into language enhancements.

• Maintain version control, edition dating, and documentation for all forms and endorsements throughout the portfolio.

• Keep abreast of regulatory changes, case law, and emerging exposures, proactively updating wordings to manage coverage and litigation risks.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Insurance, Business, English, Legal Studies, or a related field, or a Juris Doctor (JD). Relevant experience and proven skills may substitute for formal education.

• Strong understanding of both commercial and personal lines coverages, ISO forms, manuscript wordings, and policy development. Experience with E&S / non-admitted is advantageous.

• Knowledge of state filing procedures and SERFF; comprehension of admitted and non-admitted regulatory requirements.

• Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to identify ambiguity, unintended coverage, and gaps in policy language.

• Insurance designations such as CPCU, or a legal background in insurance coverage, are beneficial.
