Senior Infrastructure Software Engineer, Search Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop an Advanced Search Platform: Create a powerful, highly scalable internal search solution to drive Dropbox Dash - an AI-enabled search tool for professional use.

• Integrate Search Experiences: Design and execute a unified search platform that merges the search functionalities of Dropbox Dash with the search capabilities for files and folders, ensuring a smooth and cohesive user journey.

• Cater to Varied Search Requirements: Facilitate a broad spectrum of search and retrieval functionalities, including lexical search, vector search, multi-modal search, Q&A, and recommendations, to adapt to changing customer demands.

• Enhance the Indexing Infrastructure: Develop a highly scalable indexing system capable of managing trillions of documents while maintaining performance, reliability, and efficiency.

• Propel Global Expansion: Extend the search platform's features to cater to Dropbox’s expanding international user base, ensuring a consistent and high-quality experience across the globe.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical discipline involving programming (such as physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical expertise.

• Over 9 years of professional experience in software development.

• Demonstrated success in designing and managing large-scale, multi-threaded, geographically distributed backend systems.

• Proficient in programming and debugging in various languages, including Python, Go, C/C++, or Java.

• Extensive knowledge of operating system internals, filesystems, databases, networks, and compilers is considered a plus.

• Ability to navigate and excel in uncertain situations, demonstrating adaptability and innovative problem-solving skills.

• Competent in taking ownership of long-term projects and seeing them through to successful completion.

• Capable of establishing medium- to long-term strategies for projects with significant business impact.
