Senior Infrastructure Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kazakhstan.

📋 Description

• Manage and oversee on-premises infrastructure utilizing bare-metal Debian Linux servers.

• Administer OS-level configurations, networking, and system services.

• Automate the provisioning and management of infrastructure lifecycle through Chef.

• Maintain infrastructure state using Git repositories while adhering to GitOps principles.

• Streamline and continuously enhance infrastructure deployment processes.

• Oversee and operate hybrid connectivity across GCP, AWS, Megaport, and on-premise data centers.

• Design and manage VPC networking, routing, and firewall configurations.

• Operate hybrid connectivity solutions (Direct Connect, Cloud Interconnect, VPN).

• Set up and support BGP routing between cloud and on-premise environments.

• Ensure high levels of availability, redundancy, and fault tolerance for network connectivity.

• Diagnose and resolve network and connectivity issues across cloud and on-premise layers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience in administering Debian-based systems within production settings.

• Strong comprehension of bare-metal infrastructure operations.

• Familiarity with Linux networking principles (TCP/IP, system bottlenecks).

• Experience managing large-scale Linux environments that require high availability.

• Proficient in system hardening, patching, and OS lifecycle management.

• Practical experience with configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet, or Salt.

• Significant expertise with Terraform.

• Proficient in scripting languages (Bash, Ruby, Python).

• Solid hands-on experience with GCP and AWS platforms.

• Practical knowledge of VPC architecture, including subnets, routing, and firewall rules.

• Understanding of load balancers, such as NGINX and HAProxy.

• Experience with centralized logging systems like Graylog.

• Capability to operate and troubleshoot production infrastructure effectively.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

• Excellent communication skills, both clear and concise.

• Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of tasks.

• Methodical, engineering-focused approach to problem-solving.

• Proficiency in English: B1+ level.

• Experience in operating Kubernetes clusters (on-prem or cloud) is a plus.

• Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix) is a plus.

• Experience with virtualization platforms (Proxmox VE, VMware, KVM) is a plus.
