This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Assist in documenting and supporting IT infrastructure systems to ensure their stability and optimal performance.
• Understand and manage system architecture, which includes servers, databases, APIs, load balancers, firewalls, networking, and SAN.
• Construct, configure, and maintain virtualized environments utilizing Hyper-V and/or VMware.
• Manage Windows Server environments, including tasks related to patching, performance optimization, and security enhancements.
• Oversee Active Directory (both on-premises and Azure AD) along with user provisioning responsibilities.
• Design, implement, and take ownership of automation scripts using PowerShell and infrastructure-as-code tools like Ansible or Terraform.
• Supervise backup processes at multiple levels—VM snapshots, OS-level, and SAN-level.
• Monitor the health and performance of systems using suitable logging and monitoring tools; respond to incidents and efficiently perform triage.
• Utilize code management repositories (e.g., GitHub, Azure DevOps) for managing infrastructure configuration and deployment.
• Contribute to SCRUM or Agile methodologies by completing infrastructure-related tasks and enhancements.
• Lead projects from conception to completion with minimal oversight and mentor junior engineers through knowledge sharing.
• Participate in on-call rotations, providing prompt resolutions to critical infrastructure challenges.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in systems engineering or infrastructure management.
• In-depth understanding of IT system components: servers, databases, APIs, networking, firewalls, load balancers, and SAN.
• Expertise in Windows Server administration, including patching and adherence to security best practices.
• Practical experience with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V and/or VMware.
• Strong background in managing Active Directory and Azure Active Directory.
• Familiarity with infrastructure management using Ansible or Terraform.
• Proficient in scripting languages (PowerShell preferred); capable of reading, writing, and executing scripts.
• Knowledgeable about system monitoring tools and techniques.
• Experience with backup technologies and methodologies.
• Proficient with code repositories like GitHub or Azure DevOps.
• Strong troubleshooting capabilities and the ability to resolve complex technical challenges.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within Agile/SCRUM environments.
• Availability for on-call support as necessary.
