This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Oversee compliant, efficient, and scalable import and export operations, primarily focusing on U.S. imports.
• Execute and uphold HS/HTS classifications while assisting with ECCN determinations for semiconductor equipment, spare parts, components, electronics, software, and associated technologies.
• Examine and validate broker filings, customs documentation, customs values, country of origin declarations, and the applicability of trade remedies.
• Engage with CBP Requests for Information, audits, post-entry reviews, disclosures, and compliance inquiries.
• Create, document, and continually refine import/export processes, controls, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and governance protocols.
• Develop exception reporting, validation controls, systemic data feeds, compliance monitoring metrics, Power BI dashboards, and compliance analytics.
• Collaborate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, external service providers, and cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance and standardize processes.
• Lead trade compliance projects, system enhancements, and automation initiatives.
• Assist with internal and external audits and perform periodic assessments of trade compliance controls and records.
• Track regulatory changes and provide risk assessments and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of relevant work experience, or Master’s Degree with 6 years of relevant experience, or Doctorate (Academic) Degree with 3 years of related experience.
• Comprehensive understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, tariff classification, valuation, country of origin, and import documentation.
• Strong grasp of ECCN classification, EAR requirements, and restricted party screening.
• Experience in responding to customs audits and regulatory inquiries.
• Excellent project management and cross-functional leadership abilities.
• Background in semiconductor, electronics, advanced manufacturing, or other technology sectors.
• Familiarity with SAP GTS, SAP, ACE reporting, or trade management systems.
• Proven experience in developing controls, validations, automation solutions, and exception-based monitoring.
• Advanced skills in Power BI dashboard development and data visualization.
• Proficient Excel skills, including Power Query, Pivot Tables, and XLOOKUP.
• Capability to analyze large datasets and convert findings into actionable business strategies.
• Experience supporting workflow automation and digital transformation initiatives.
• LCB, CCS, CES, or a similar certification is preferred.
