This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Responsible for the design, testing, installation, and maintenance of systems or equipment that monitor, control, and automate industrial processes or machinery.
• Accountable for the overall design and analysis of both safety and non-safety related Instrumentation and Control (I&C) systems for nuclear and commercial projects.
• Regularly collaborate with other technical disciplines, including mechanical, nuclear, operations, and electrical engineering teams, for I&C design and consultation.
• Leverage extensive knowledge and experience, along with industry best practices, regulatory guidance, codes, and standards, to ensure compliance with international regulatory criteria and industry standards.
• Create and review control system designs, encompassing PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
• Conduct advanced performance analyses, identify faults, and resolve issues to guarantee optimal plant operation.
• Ensure all systems comply with nuclear safety regulations, industry standards, and quality assurance requirements.
• Develop and implement maintenance, testing, and startup procedures; verify system readiness throughout the equipment lifecycle.
• Specialize in the preparation and upkeep of technical documentation such as P&IDs, loop diagrams, and qualification test plans.
• Collaborate in multi-discipline teams on project-based tasks and ensure cohesive design integration across various disciplines.
• Provide mentoring and quality reviews of the work produced by junior colleagues when necessary.
• Offer guidance to less experienced colleagues.
• Adhere to assigned schedules to guarantee accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work, while initiating corrective measures to mitigate delays.
• Operate with a high level of independence and minimal supervision.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• A Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or a related technical or engineering field is required.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is necessary.
• Experience in the nuclear industry is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred.
• A Master’s degree is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Expertise in electrical design is required.
• Experience with Human Factors analysis of plant systems is beneficial.
• Familiarity with Cyber Security requirements for nuclear facilities is advantageous.
• Knowledge of commissioning or tuning integrated plant control systems is preferred.
• Practical experience with licensing standards and regulatory processes is necessary.
• Proficient in applying industry codes and standards (IEEE, IEC, EPRI, ANSI, ISA, IAEA).
• Must be a U.S. citizen to be considered.
