Senior HPC Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Oversee the configuration of HPC clusters and Linux-based computation servers.

• Facilitate performance optimization.

• Assist in troubleshooting performance challenges within the cluster.

• Contribute to the design of HPC jobs.

• Install, configure, and manage Linux systems throughout the environment utilizing HPC-specific software.

• Enforce uniform security configuration standards across the Linux infrastructure.

• Implement and sustain management and monitoring tools.

• Identify opportunities to enhance and automate deployment and configuration processes.

• Offer technical support and guidance for Linux deployments.

• Compile from source, install, configure, and manage Linux applications on the cluster.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in supporting production RHEL-like Linux servers and applications.

• General familiarity with popular open-source applications, including NGINX, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and Git.

• Basic understanding of services such as DHCP, DNS, and NTP.

• At least 3 years of experience with Ansible or similar configuration-as-code tools.

• Proficient in configuring OS images from the ground up.

• Comfortable building software from source code, with a solid grasp of dependencies, libraries, and linking concepts.

• Experience in the remote management of extensive on-premises infrastructure, including multiple servers, switches, and storage systems.

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

• Skills in performance optimization within Linux environments.

• Proficient in English with at least a B2 level of proficiency.
