This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop high-quality code for intricate scenarios while ensuring comprehensive test coverage.
• Analyze and convert product requirements into robust designs to guarantee high-quality distributed application systems that are modular, configurable, reusable, quick, effective, user-friendly, secure, compliant, scalable, and maintainable.
• Oversee design and code evaluations for multiple applications to uphold best practices, adherence to Mercury standards, and superior quality.
• Guide the sprint team in delivering new or enhanced features while tackling any obstacles to providing high-quality solutions outlined in the sprint backlog.
• Work collaboratively with other teams and stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the intended functionality.
• Mentor and offer technical direction to team engineers, promoting a culture of innovation and excellence within Mercury engineering.
• Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related fields OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum: Over 5 years of software programming experience, including at least 2 years in Technologies utilized at Mercury, as well as more than one year of experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams.
• Preferred: 6 or more years of experience with Guidewire Policy Center (configurations and integrations).
• Preferred: 4 or more years of experience with Java/J2EE.
• Preferred: 2 or more years of experience using technologies such as Kafka, AWS, S3, Drools, Blaze, etc.
• Preferred: 2 or more years of experience with Personal lines products.
• Preferred: 1 or more years of experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GUnit, etc.
• Proficient in programming in one or more industry-standard languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C++, JavaScript).
• Experienced in utilizing various data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
• Proficient in relational databases, NoSQL, and caching solutions.
• Experienced with APIs utilizing modern protocols like REST and gRPC.
• Proficient in message queuing, data streaming, workflow, and integration frameworks (such as Apache Kafka, Apache NiFi, Amazon SQS, MS MQ, Apache Camel, etc.).
• Knowledgeable in microservices architecture.
• Experienced with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficient in leveraging DevSecOps practices to enhance engineering efficiency.
• Experienced in designing and implementing high-quality distributed application systems that are modular, configurable, maximize reuse, and are quick, effective, user-friendly, secure, compliant, scalable, and maintainable.
• Skilled in using analytics data and experimentation to design and improve systems for speed, scalability, and effectiveness.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication capabilities.
• Strong ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders to resolve impediments and achieve desired outcomes.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities through mentoring and providing technical guidance to team members.
• Experienced in steering technical strategy and vision for a team.
• Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
