This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Oversee and continually enhance YWCA's comprehensive grant compliance program.
• Formulate long-term strategies that bolster the compliance infrastructure while facilitating organizational growth.
• Act as the organization’s subject matter expert regarding compliance requirements for federal, state, local, and private grants.
• Foster collaborative relationships across Finance, Programs, Development, and Executive Leadership to advance organizational accountability and compliance.
• Supervise grant-funded programs to guarantee adherence to grant agreements, funding regulations, and organizational policies.
• Examine grant terms and conditions, communicating compliance obligations to program and administrative personnel.
• Create and uphold compliance tracking systems for reporting deadlines, deliverables, and grant responsibilities.
• Perform periodic internal compliance reviews and risk assessments.
• Identify potential compliance challenges and propose corrective measures.
• Collaborate with Finance and Program Departments to ensure that grant expenditures are permissible, allocable, reasonable, and adequately documented.
• Review financial reports, budgets, and supporting documents for compliance with funding stipulations.
• Aid in the preparation of grant budgets, modifications, and revisions.
• Provide support during annual audits and monitoring visits related to grant-funded initiatives.
• Coordinate and produce timely grant reports for funders, encompassing both financial and programmatic reporting.
• Maintain organized and accurate grant files and supporting documentation.
• Ensure adherence to record retention policies and funder guidelines.
• Prepare documentation and responses for inquiries and site visits from grantors.
• Evaluate existing grant administration practices and identify opportunities for modernization.
• Design scalable workflows, templates, policies, and procedures that enhance efficiency and mitigate organizational risk.
• Develop internal controls that reinforce compliance while promoting operational effectiveness.
• Stay updated on changes in grant regulations and funding requirements.
• Assess organizational compliance risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
• Investigate compliance issues and coordinate corrective action plans as needed.
• Support the organization’s readiness for audits, monitoring reviews, and regulatory inspections.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, Nonprofit Management, or a related discipline is required.
• A Master's degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in grant management, compliance, auditing, or nonprofit administration.
• Proven experience managing federal, state, and private foundation grants.
• Familiarity with nonprofit accounting principles and grant regulations.
• Experience with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200).
• Preferred Qualifications: Certified Grants Management Specialist (CGMS) or a similar professional certification.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred.
• Experience with federal grant compliance and Single Audit requirements.
• Background in a mission-driven nonprofit environment.
• Experience with grant billing, including oversight of grant billing staff and/or direct preparation of grant billings.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong grasp of grant compliance requirements and nonprofit regulations.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to interpret complex grant agreements and regulatory stipulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, grant management tools, and Accounting ERP software.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities and adhere to strict deadlines.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
